Parent open afternoon

We had so much fun welcoming our adults into school for the afternoon.

We worked together to build a bridge for the Gingerbread Man to get across the river. After we had built them we took them outside to test if they would float!

We also celebrated the Queens Jubilee by recreating Andy Warhol’s pop art style in our art work.

We are amazing!

What a fantastic start to our Summer term. We all came back with super smiles, lots of lovely stories of our Easter Holidays and most importantly, ready to learn. On our return we had a super time displaying our Easter bonnets. We had a parade in the playground and each class had a winner! Congratulations to our winners Ethan and Jonathan and to everyone who came in a brilliant bonnet! 🎉🐣

Life Cycles.

This term we are learning about different life cycles. We have already looked at chicks and flowers. This week we have looked at cress and what happens when we plant seeds. We planted seeds in different pots. One had sun and water, one had no light and one had no soil. We watched what happened to each pot throughout the week. At the end of the week we compared the pots and how they grew. The pots without soil and light did not change but we were excited to see the pots with soil and that had light had started to grow!

World Book Day.

On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day. Look at our wonderful costumes! We had a very scary Cruella Deville, some fantastic super heroes, princesses, robots and we even had an oompah lumpah! We had a super time looking at our friends costumes and learning about the books they came from. Some of us had our pictures taken with our World Book Day twins! Fantastic job Snowdon class, you all look amazing!

Under the sea – pirates

This week we have been dressing up as pirates and building boats. When our boat sank we designed a new one and drew a map to help us find it!

We had a message in a bottle from a pirate, so we decided to make our own bottles to send messages back to the pirate.

The Rainbow Fish

Our new theme for this half term is Under the Sea. The first text we have focused on for Under the Sea theme is Rainbow Fish written by Marcus Pfister. We have had lots of fun making our own story maps, acting out the story and thinking about the key messages from the story.

In maths, we have been developing our understanding of numbers up to 10 and have also been learning about tally charts. We have used our skills to count lots of things around our learning environment.

Each morning we have been practicing our fine motor skills with our Under the Sea activities. This is helping us develop the skills we need to write.

In phonics, we are continuing to develop our knowledge of sounds, following the Sounds Write program. We have been practicing our Sight Words (words which sound different such as ‘of’ and ‘the’).

House teams!

We have been learning all about our growth mindset and trying to use these to inspire our learning.

Here we are working as a team just like Taylor the Teamwork’s star! We talked to our friends and used our communication skills to complete the challenges.

We are bing just like a Charlie the Curiosity star by trying something new. This half term we are having ballet lessons! Here we are practicing our skips and feet positions.

Merry Christmas!

We have had lots of fun wearing our Christmas jumpers, eating Christmas dinner and performing in our Nativity!

Whatever Next!

We have been reading the story ‘Whatever Next!’ by: Jill Murphy.

We have used our imagination to ‘hot seat’ characters from the story, draw our own story maps and act out the story using props.

We strengthened our finger muscles as we made our space helmets by cutting a hole out for our face and decorating them using paint and felt tips!

Anti-bullying week

To celebrate anti-bullying week we wore our odd socks!

We have talked about being kind and how we can look after our friends and families.
